Welcome in Val de France urban community
The Val de France Group of Communities is the result of a coherent policy to pool human, technical and financial resources, with the main objective of creating conditions for economic renewal for the east of the Oise Valley. |
 |
Born of a common determination
 |
 |
 |
Born of a common determination, endowed with fully-operational skills in the four key sectors for the development of its region, Val de France, privileged partner for businesses, is ready to offer them as well as to the population a quality urban and economic environment.
Val de France, a region of the future!
With more than 136,000 inhabitants, the population of Val de France is notable for its youth and diversity. 30% of its inhabitants are under 20 years of age.
At the crossroads of four development regions (Paris, Roissy-Charles de Gaulle, Plaine Saint-Denis and Cergy-Pontoise), Val de France has the advantage of a strategic geographical location. Easily accessible, it is served by a comprehensive and varied communications network: the A1, the Francilienne, RN1, RN16, RER D, SNCF (French National Railways) service and buses.
The 3 major business centres of the region (Sarcelles-Lochères business area, Val de France Business Park and Garges-lès-Gonesse Business Park) benefit directly from this.

Economic Devlopment
 |
The establishment of new businesses and the development of existing ones
are happening today thanks to economic zone regeneration programmes started in 1998. 1998 marked the launch of several studies aim at improving the startup conditions and the environment in business zones, developing tools to help businesses generally and in their development projects.
Approximately 10,000 square metres of floor space were acquired at the end of 1999 at Sarcelles and Villiers-le-Bel to install industrial firms, services and new businesses there. To help develop the economic area of Val de France, the Group of Communities also undertook to:
- Create and develop economic business zones.
- Regenerate and revitalise existing business parks.
- Set up Local Commerce promotions in partnership with the Regional Département.
- Organise and redefine public areas around shopping centres and commercial streets.
|
Protecting the environment
 |
Protecting the environment is also a priority for the Community.
Val de France emphasises the importance of creating parks, slow traffic networks (cycle tracks) and appropriate transport (from Garges-Sarcelles station to Saint Denis Basilique).
This also means actions in general to preserve the quality of life for the residents.

University Institute of Technology
 |
 |
 |
Since the Autumn term of 1996, there has been a University Institute of Technology in the Val de France region, established at Sarcelles in the Lochère area.
Attached for the moment to the Cergy Pontoise University, the UIT contains two departments: "Commercialisation Techniques" to train future competent, autonomous salesmen capable of progressing to management, and "Electrical and Industrial IT Engineering", the latter offering a specialisation in setting up industrial IT networks, allowing graduates to enter quickly into businesses as higher technicians. Other establishments offer courses leading to a BTS (Higher Technician's Diploma) for a Management Assistant in small and medium-sized businesses and industries, in international commerce, in trilingual office automation.
In the industrial sphere, they offer a BTS in Micro-technology, electronics and productive mechanics, and electrotechnology.
The Sarcelles UIT will be fully operational in 2003, especially with two extra departments with a potential of 1,000 students and 200 lecturers and researchers.
One of the two future departments will include a course of "airport installation maintenance engineering" (new bilingual training course). The training departments of Lycées (Secondary Schools) and Technical Colleges, vocational training establishments, and organisations for continuing education draw up the training programmes (CAP [Vocational Training Certificate], BEP [Vocational Training Diploma], BAC PRO, BAC Général [School leaving exams] ).
